Here are a just few of my wood turnings. I grouped them all into one post to avoid a bunch of postings. First pict is several different items of various wood types including Big leaf maple, apple, plum, and walnut. Secondis a large vase, Third is a large Big leaf maple bowl about 12" in diameter.  Forth is a smaller bowl made from Golden Chain wood. Fifth is s set of napkin rings made from Myrthe wood. Sixth is a "butterfly" bowl trurned from a rectangular piece of maple. Most of these woods came from my own property.
Most of my bowls I finish with a salad bowl finish (Behlen's or General) which is very wear resistant and durable.
Great collection.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

all really nice turnings les !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Some well presented woods Les!

I think it is these "free form" shapes that really bring out the burls and figured woods. You did well!
Thay are all beautiful turnings. The Butterfly Bowl is wonderful along with the shallow Walnut tray.

Seems like everyone has a favorite. I don't know why, the the napkin ring holders looks really cool!
Steve,  You are not alone on the napkin rings. I have made several sets in different woods and they have been popular gifts. To make them I first cut the pentagram out on the band saw from 1" wood. They using a jig and a forstner bit on the drill press I cut out the center. Then I mount them on the lathe using  a 4 jaw chuck and the 1" jaw set that grips through the center hole. I round over one side then turn it around and round the second side. Finally they are sanded and finished. I think it is the pentagram shape that makes them somewhat unique.
I really like
