Knotty Cedar Tear-drop Dulcimer

One of the most “fun” things to do with wood is try and take advantage of all the wood has to offer. This Western Cedar had a lot to offer both in sound and looks. The knots made perfect sound-holes.

I really love those knot holes. It was a stroke of luck, perhaps, but that took a good eye to see the potential. Absolutely beautiful instrument.

Thanks. I saw the poor lonely board sitting in the wood rack, ready for the chipper, no doubt, because of the knot holes, and knew it had a better use. Found some dogwood today that was about to be chipped. Can’t wait to use it.
