Sheath for curved carving knife

I have a curved carving knife which needed protection, so I made this sheath.

The curve in the blade means you can’t push it straight into the sheath, but rather need to “rock” it in.

Once the knife is fully seated, you can click the snap shut, and it’s held securely in place.

That’s it, but I think the idea might prove useful for someone.

That's a neat idea Dave 👍

Fir some reason I'm starting to think that when you settle in for a carving session, you are on your patio, rocking in the chair and wearing a bandoleer festooned with all these sheathed knives....
Thanks, Splint! As for carving sessions, this year they’ve mostly been in the shop with the mini-split running, but if it ever cools off a bit, I do a fair amount of carving on our veranda where I also watch sunsets (as opposed to our portal, which is on the other side of the house, so we know which patio we’re talking about). The knives mostly sit on the table out there, though. Maybe I need to make a big-ass Pancho Villa bandolier and get a sombrero…

Sure beats the blue painter’s tape and cardboard I use.
😉
Main thing it would protect the toe when dropped if it was mine.    Nice design.

Nice Dave.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thumbs up Dave.

Good thinking with this design, works very well.
Well done Dave, and the snap looks like it would work great with that curved blade. I can see you sitting out on the porch carving. Might need to build a small box to carry them all in going between the shop and porch.

Thanks, folks!

Eric, me, build a box to organize tools? That’s crazy talk! ;-)

Thanks, YRTi!
