When I set up my shop 7 years ago I quickly built a number of fixtures that I needed to accomplish certain tasks. One was a functional drill press table. It was not a show piece in anyone's estimation but it served adequately through the years. With the fall comes a reduction in visitors who need repairs or new builds so my attention focused on shop fixtures. While the 1st iteration of this table was made from scraps this new one was made from Better scraps, a lot more consideration and a finer eye for detail. 1" MDF with a waxed top, 3/4"X1" padauk frame to restrict bending. 2 topside T-tracks for the fence adjustment and for clamps when required. With the addition of 2 T-tracks underneath clamping to the original cast iron table was made simple and efficient. This is one of the first things a client sees in my shop, so now it is sturdy, functional and eye pleasing. Next: The portable router table!
