Halloween Pen

I see pens shown here, not woodworking but, I wanted to show the pen I made and am the most proud of.  I made this pen to enter a contest for best halloween pen.  Small group of NW pen turners.  I made it by cutting a piece of black DWV pipe into strips.  I glued three strips stacked together, and scrolled the bats into the glued strips.  I filled the bats 5 minute epoxy colored with read paint.  I did the same thing with another three strips, scrolled more bats only in different locations.  Then I clued the two stacks of strips together to make it thickness to be a pen blank.  drilled and put in the brass insert, mounted it on the lathe and turned the pen blank.  I was pretty excited to see how well the bats turned out.   I decided to stage it for pictures to send into that contest.  I won the contest with it.  To be honest there were only 6 entries. :) It was fun to make.  Probably the only contest I won in my life!
pretty cool pen scrap ! any pic's of how you did it ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Those bats did come out great! No idea how you did that or what pre-planning it required but the results are spooky   👻
From on pen maker to another, very nice work, a beautiful pen. I love making pens and this one is very unique.
Really nice!
