Dining Tables at Red Rocks Amphitheatre

In early 2023, I had an opportunity to design dining tables and a cabinet for the prestigious Red Rocks Amphitheater Visitors Center.  The tables shown above are what they call the Artisan tables.  They are a square 36″ x 36″ table.  The top is walnut, and the metal legs and decorative grid for the apron are made from copper-plated steel aged to a deep dark brown copper that complements the table tops and walnut chairs.  The idea of using aged copper plating on the steel came from the various works of art that adorn the halls in the visitor’s center.

Cool tables. I have 2 Nieces out in Denver local, and both have talked about going to different things at Red Rocks. Small world. :-)
Brian, always a pleasure to view your work. Beautiful as usual!
Beautiful.  Did you make the chairs too?

What did you use to copper plate and "age" the legs?

--Nathan, TX. Hire the lazy man. He may not do as much work but that's because he will find a better way.

@Lazyman No, I didn't get to make the chairs, and I used Blue Crystals to copper plate
Copper Sulfate?

My FIL left me with maybe 10 pounds of that stuff, used for clearing roots that penetrate drain pipes.

I know as a kid that placing steel in a solution of that stuff would leave behind a copper plating, just never could get it to stay.

You have the magic Brian!

That's an impressive project Brian!
Very nice, informative video! I think it's sour grapes on the part of the guys who complain about fixtures. I guess they don't get much production work. 🤔

Those tables are beautiful.
