Keepsake boxes

This pair of keepsake boxes were a commission by a good friend here in Western Australia for his two Grandsons who live in the UK. He wanted something simple, but I said "I don't do simple"!

So in order to maintain my interest while making them, we compromised and decided two 'simple' parquetry patterns enhanced with maple stringing and some engraving. He decided he would like our local western Australian Jarrah, and hoped the engraved compass rose on the tops might inspire the boys to travel in later years.
Love the inlay work.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

 but I said "I don't do simple"!

At least you know yourself! Beautiful boxes!
Beautiful, indeed!
