Project Information

A friend is remodeling her home and is a big fan of Coca Cola decor, which is what she is decorating her laundry room with.
My wife asked me to make something incorporating a wood coke case. After considering making a shadow box or wall shelf I recalled seeing several of the small folding step stools in some earlier LJ projects( 2012 and earlier although I'm sure there are many more.)

Mainly stayed with the dimensions posted by GaryCN, except for the width which I made about 1/2" narrower due to the size of the coke crate ends. Steps are 15/16 thick to accommodate the planed down coke crate sides. The unevenness of the wood from the crate created a bit of a challenge, as you can see by where I milled off an area of graphics on the bottom step.

Material is some scrap maple I had and a 1" dia poplar dowel from big box store. Everything was doweled and glued. No screws or nails used

Finished with a coat of danish oil, just to get a somewhat uneven weathered look
very cool idea dan.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Looks like it has been around forever, nice work incorporating that case into the works, looks like an original!
Thanks for the post.  One of my sisters collects Coke items so she would LOVE me making her one of these.  Maybe a great Christmas gift for her.  I'll be visiting the antique places looking for a Coke box.  Great idea.
