TV Table

Table I built in 2015. Most extensive build for me to date. Figured it out as I went along, with a lot of advice from other woodworkers.  Although I did a blog series I’ve just put pictures of build below.

Project Information

Designed and built this table for our flat screen TV in our living room. Wanted something that matched the Queen Anne style end tables and it needed to house the typical electronics, Blueray player and cable box. Under the cabinet, behind the skirt, is a compartment for cables , wires , surge protector.

I purchased the legs. With this being my first furniture build, I wasn't too sure about building them. I purchased Maple from a mill, which is what I used for everything else. I used mortise and tenons for all of the joints. Dimensions are 38" tall, 17" wide and 50" wide to accommodate or 48" TV. Used dark blue (hard to see in the pic) glass for the leaded glass panels.

The finish is General Finishes Vintage Cherry Dye Stain, and is the result of a great deal of advice I received from a number of fellow woodworkers. So thanks to all for getting me through the finishing.

Wow, really great table.   Use of the "jig" for  the chisel is something I will have to copy on my drill press mounted mortise cutter.   Lovely table.

That's a stunning table Dan!  Between the legs and the stained glass inserts, I bet that was a lotta hands-on hours.
A quality TV table.  Great build well done!!

Nice job on this table. Nice curves on it
Beautiful!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

REALLY nice work!  From the research I've done, it looks like the legs you bought came with the top portion to facilitate attachment to the rest of the table...is this correct?

Dan, beautiful creation, great craftsmanship. There's something pleasing about making beautiful furniture, you get the feeling it'll become an heirloom, and I'm pretty sure this will.
