Planter boxes

I had some Lux siding leftover from residing my house and garage. I used cedar as a frame and Lux for the front, back and sides. I made the inside wide and long enough to fit my wife’s plastic planter boxes. Finished with 4 coats of a satin polyurethane UV protection on the cedar. 48”L/18”H/17”W.

The Lux siding is Kona and l like the natural cedar colour with it. Glad I could use some of the leftover Lux to make these planters.
im not just a wood guy but also love to garden so this project caught my eye right away. there beautiful man. love the contrast of woods, but what is lux ? is it an iron wood like ipe ? oh and im glad to see you posting my friend. dont be away so long anymore, ok 😁

Thank you I’ve been busy and it’s been hard to spend time on doing the things I love. I should post the projects from the last woodworking site. Anyway Lux is a siding made from a heavy gauge metal…not the regular aluminum siding. It’s very durable and comes in a large variety of colours and wood tones that really mimic wood.
wow from the pic i would never had know it wasn't real wood ! and yeah move everything you have here ! that place is dead !!!!!

That’s great stuff! Vey nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

That’s a great use for leftover siding, and those are great looking planters that should last a very long time.
Thanks Ron……I used UV polyurethane. I prefer the natural cedar look so I will probably add a coat to the cedar each season
