Here is the coffee and end tables I made for my sons first house. The legs, sides and top edges are maple with 3/4 inch birch plywood making up the rest. All joints are box “finger” joints with pine dowel inserts to cover the screws. The stain he picked was red mahogany and I was afraid it wouldn’t take too well with the maple but it surprised me. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of the end results but I ended up putting five coats of poly with wet sanding at 600 grit between each coat so they turned out pretty slick.
