Eight is Enough Puzzle.

54
1
 Boys and Girls,

This puzzle has reached the milestone of #55… why  #55?  While  it doesn’t  coincide with the title, many nay-sayers will holler that #1 was 1 too many, so this one is a +54

At least I have managed to find out the source of this puzzle's name…

8 moves are enough to be able to remove the first piece “C”…

and after that,

the remaining 5 pieces virtually just fall apart

… unfortunately those 5 pieces do not fall together when you start assembling the puzzle.

Now it’s not that my MDF forest has strived since I started into solids for some of my latest puzzles, but rather because of the shapes of the pieces... where laser cutting out of MDF, is the optimum option.
The pieces could be cut out of solids using conventional tools, however, they will still need to be laminated unless you are adept at using dado blades and micro tablesaw fence set-ups

This will give you a feel for the solids’ shapes in 1 piece,

though the puzzle I plagiarised this from, were done such a way in solids

Imported into SketchUp using this diagram,

and designed for the laser,

and the 24mm print from Coreldraw
for 6mm MDF lamination.
A full sized piece measures 24mm x 24mm x 96mm (4 layers of MDF)… the “miniature”  is ½ that size (2 layers of MDF).

Unfortunately… though many might argue with the “Un” prefix… no build photos taken as this was designed during the LJ to CN transition back in 2022... we all remember those hellfire days…
though some may relish the though.

The secret to the solution is to line your ducks in a row (orient them for insertion), hence the engraved letters for easier recognition,

The small pieces are not into production as this puzzle is too much hassle for freebies… so I have stuck some labels on for identification,

when showing “potential customers”  (friends) for orders.

Nevertheless, there is the 3DW model

And the A4 PDF Solution

Anyone interested in my puzzles (or other authors’), you can see them all here in my “Puzzle Collection”
If interested in any of mine (LBD), measurements can be made available on request for anyone not familiar with SketchUp… though a working knowledge of SketchUp’s navigation (as opposed to its design/use features) and access to 3DW could be of benefit.
All the solutions to my puzzles can be found at this link...
Kids love ‘em and most of us are still kids.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

I like the idea of lettering each piece. that make the instructions to solve the puzzle easier to understand!!!
