Indoor lumber rack

Necessity is the mother of invention , another child is motivation. I had to do this. Mother said so.

I wanted a place to allow some stock for a future project get acclimated. This lumber was cut and put inside a barn over 40 years ago. Now, where do i put it. I've already got 10 lbs. in a 5 pound sack. There is no available wall space for this.

Before I started carrying heavy power tools down the stairs,15 years ago, I made sure they could handle the weight.
I can't think of much worse than finding out halfway down that I skipped an important step. The steps were just nailed, so everything got drilled and screwed. It's about 3 feet from a foundation wall, it's now my go to safe place when big storms roll in.

I built a frame from 2x4's , and I can configure my storage options as they change. The lumber rack is an add on to that frame.

A simple L frame bracket. I can store boards up to 8" wide without any interference. 36" max length, that's a big board for what I do.

That's pretty neat hairy!  I usually stack and sticker my lumber along side in my garage on the concrete.
I don't have any stair cases here, but certainly the below storage options are vast. Neat thing about using it for wood is you can really beef up the stair stringers with a shelf support system like that.
If it works it is good.
