VAULT

I made this wooden vault for my daughter's wedding. It will be used to collect and store wedding gifts, during wedding evening, in form of envelopes with money. In my country, custom of giving gifts to newlyweds is mainly via giving money in envelope. Rarely gifts are material things. Dimensions are 26x30x26 cm. I made main box with spruce. The door and legs were made of thermaly threated ash. Wheel, handle and hinges of beech. Decorating door slats and opening slat on top of padauk.
Narrow groove on top I made with 9mm router bit. Sign at the bottom was made by pyrography.
The openeing mechanism is simple - magnet inside top slat and 5mm metal pin inside box side and door.
When opened , pin is completely inside box side. When closed , it is partialy in door top.  Finish glossy spray laquer.

Nice vault, looks really good.
That's a great looking vault, hope it gets full and at least matches the money spent for the wedding. In this country wedding costs can be ridiculous. Congrats on the wedding of your daughter. BTW, you don't look old enough to have a daughter old enough to get married. 😂
