I wanted to try this Abalone sheet. I hope to find other uses for it. All the women that saw these earrings seemed very interested. I bet these would draw a crowd at craft shows. If you have a laser, very easy and inexpensive to make.

Aces John!

I have the same sheet (paua) and would really like to know how the lasing went. Power/speed, how you secured them, details buddy!

These have the colors and light weight.

Very nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Bruce, I used my 30w, so these settings might not help you.
The voids were etched in cherry @ 5000 sp-30 pwr, and 450 sp-55 pwr to cut the paua. It leaves ash around the perimeter of the paua. The pieces are so small it was difficult to remove. I found rubbing the paua pieces on a plywood table top was enough to remove most of it, the rest I scratched off with my fingernail.
I used medium CA to adhere the paua. I’ll run a couple on the 10w setting and let you know what the settings are.

Bruce, I ran the paua with my 10w setting. Had to run at 275 sp and 85 pwr to cut through, so that should get you in the ball park.
