TRUCK BED FACELIFT

Recently a neighbor of mine stopped in and inquired about refinishing the wood slats in his current project. I told him that if he could remove the slats, bring them by and I'll see what can be done. . . He did just that and the next day, he brought me 8, what he thought were Oak boards from his pickup bed.

After running them through my thickness planner, I was surprised to see aromatic cedar boards coming out the other end ! ! ! Some of the boards were in rough shape but still salvageable with a little woodworking magic and a lot of filler.

After prepping them several coats of marine grade spar polyurethane was applied with sanding between each coat. . . All 4 surfaces + the ends. (He drives this truck daily rain or shine.)
Be a shame to haul a load of sand or dirt!    Looks great.

Nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Sharp looking...must make the truck look even more vintage!
It looks fantastic! I would not have thought of cedar for a truck bed.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.
