Chisel Handles

I made these octagonal shaped chisel handles on my tablesaw and drill press. They are made of torrefied maple.
I have some Narex Chisels that I like but not the handles and intended to replace them with these.
Most of the time, I use my Stanley Sweethearts and seldom use the Narex, so I've put off changing the handles out.
Someday, they'll get their chance and be in their glory! LOL.

Thanks for looking!

Thanks Ron. I'm happy with them.
i like the shape for a handle.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I think that’s a great shape for chisels you’re going to be a little hard on…and the torrefied maple will be strong enough to take a beating. Makes me want to swap mine over!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Never heard the term "torrefied" before, so I had to look it up. Most interesting. Nice looking handles!

Like the shape- avoids them rolling off the bench.
Like every one else, like the shape. As Barb said - no rolling off the bench, and this shape gives a better grip to the hand.
Good looking handles, Rick!!

Fine work Rick, now you'll need another box!
Nice rick, I do like an octagonal handle for tools.
I like your upgraded handles.
Thanks Ryan! Torrefied Maple makes great tool handles and feels nice in the hand. Go for it!  You'll be glad you did.

Thanks Dark_Lightning!  Torrefaction yields results with Maple that sort of makes it look like walnut. It's beautiful. It has a toasty smell and goes away when you put any finish on it.  Lee Valley often sells chunks of it. I don't know when they sell it. It's now and then but their customer service would tell you.

Hi Barb! Yes. Definitely. They will save you any time to drop your chisel. I have some others similar with facets that instantly stop when dropped.
Thanks Oldtool and Jim!
