Another design experiment to keep occupied. made a strip of this pattern some time back and thought this would be a good use for it. 
Sapele frame, strip is brazian cherry, maple, ebony, blood wood, dyed popular veneer for black background.
Finish is tung oil.

Great box Tim. The corner miters must have took a lot of planning. How much Ebony did you use? Looks like a lot. And your pattern on the top and sides are over the top. Wish I could have seen some photos of you making it. They look 3D.
