Shillelagh

I have some branches from a Bois d' Arc (Osage Orange) tree that I trimmed up a couple of years ago so I decided they may make good walking sticks. This one I designed to be an Scottish Shillelagh since my heritage comes from that region. The wood is extremely hard. I fashioned a tip from a piece of copper pipe and added a rubber pad to the bottom.
The finish is gloss Marine Poly with a dark stain. The handle is simply gloss Marine Poly.
A fine looking walking stick, to be sure…

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Nice job! Is that from a single branch or is the a separate piece!
This was made from a single branch.
Extra cool! Thanks for the answer.
Good looking and function able

Very nice, Sparky. I never know that was the real name of Osage orange!. I had hears that it was named after the Osage indians and they use it for bow wood.

A fine "stick".
I love bois d'arc.  It is hard but I find it works nicely with sharp tools.  Bois d'arc translates to arch wood in French.
