Wedding gift

I took some time away from model making and finished up a wedding gift for the upcoming nuptials of my Sister/Brother-in-law's son.  This plaque is  Mahogany and finished with 2 coats of natural Danish oil.    The front side carve was done on an Inventables 1000x1000 CNC, with Dewalt finish router as the spindle .  The file is a Vectric 3d file mashup and carved using Vectric Desktop and an Open Builds controller.  The back was lasered on an xTools S1 20W diode laser.  The sentiment is from a song on a Celtic Thunder album that I find most appropriate for life in general.   The keyhole hanger was added last.

Perfect gift for the event!

Great job Papa... hmm, wedding 2 weeks away... hope they have set the surname in concrete mahogany... future SWMBOs have a tendency to change their minds.

What a special gift! Beautifully done.
Hey there LBD, if they change well, that's their problem.  :-)   I've know the family for a long time and I'm pretty sure I have the correct info on the plaque.    and if not, oh well.  ;-)
Nicely done! I'll bet that they appreciate the song lyrics.

The Other Steven

My first thought: Wow, he's also a fantastic woodcarver, but it turns out it's the CNC milling machine that converts the drawings into wood chips. Despite that, it's a fantastic board. So, well done.

Well done. Great wedding gift!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks everyone for the kind comments.  And Dutchy, the only time (knock on wood) that I have ever hurt myself in the shop was in the '70's when I was repairing a cherry music stand for a guy and the leg support had the same scroll work that tops most violins.  I was in the final smooth around with the "V" chisel when the piece jumped out of the clamps and my left index finger got the carve.  I was a clarinet player in the Army Field Band  in Washington DC and so you can imagine how well that worked.  So that ended my carving days until I got the CNC.
Very professional looking. I don’t think they’ll back out. Not with that plate/bowl looking so good.
I’m going to listen to Celtic Thunder on YouTube as soon as I’m done posting here.

Is that anything like Thunder in Churchill... SWMBO insists it's nothing to do with outside weather.

Lucky couple to receive such a heart felt gift
