Bench Deadman

Inspired by MaFe's recent post of a Bench Slave Board Jack - AKA Deadman, I decided to make one as I've needed this for a long time.
With limited storage space, I decided to make one that stores on the bench, is adjustable both vertical & horizontally,  and if necessary ban be lifted off the 3/8" steel rod by the steel hook screw.
Fabrication was simple & straightforward,  and the 1" dowel was created using a 1" Hollow molding plane.
Simple and easy.
Thanks for viewing.

Oldtool I've always wanted to make one but my workbench is actually a base cabinet. So I have to do this between base cabinet doors. Very handy. Love it. Thanks for sharing.
Great bench tool!
Like how you allowed for adjustment.

Thank you gentlemen,  I appreciate the comments. I hope this helps those with space restrictions like I have.
Pottz, I'll check out the mentioned forum, thanks.

Nice addition to you shop.

The dowel maker method is very creative!

Thank you Jim & Petey for the comments.

Petey, that hollow molding plane was designed to make rounds, kinda pre-electric router bit, I can't take credit for being creative.
Nicely done, OT. I made something sima,r a few years back, but mine slides along a section of T-track. I think I like your rod design better.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks Ryan. I was thinking T track but I'm too cheap to spring for that, the metal dowel was only about $5.
Honestly, the T track is stable, but it’s a bit of a pain to move the deadman side to side. I think I like your solution better.
