Restoring 1812 steamer trunk

This is dry rotted, bottom as you can see in the photos,   bottom, backpannel and endpannel. Then it was all handcut dovetails and I had to match them to the front panel , lots of measurements and checking measurements not only twice but more than I can count.  I used a glue joint for all the panels.

Looks like a complete rebuilld. The original parts are wiped out!!

There's a classic discussion called the Ship of Thesus . The question focuses on replacing a part on a ship but keeping the old one. This keeps happening over time until the owner has 2 ships. Which one is the original? It turns out the answer is not clear.

Since you still have original parts, I'd say it's a restoration.
