Not sure how I would classify this piece. It's tuned like a high-G ukulele. can be played like a ukulele or with a pick like a mandolin. The basis of the design is the funky reverse-fan-fret pattern. I wanted to try this out thinking the fret positions would make it easier to play the first position B-Flat (it does). I have some really nice quarter-sawn redwood salvaged from a 120 year old door that I used for the soundboard. The rest of the design just sort of followed the fret pattern; hence the asymmetry of the head and body. The more I look at this, the more it appears like it belongs in a Dr. Seuss story.

Soundboard: Redwood
Back, sides & tailpiece: Black Walnut
Neck: Black Walnut/Maple
Nut & saddle: Ebony
Strings (for now): Aquilla Red Series - High G
OAL: 27.38"
Width: 9.75"
Height: 2.25"
