Birdseye Maple — formed only when a tree grows under unusual stress.
Maple Burl — unpredictable growth that produces chaotic grain patterns found in no other wood.
Spalted Red Maple — dark lines trace the boundary between life and decay.
Together, these three maples create a harmony of color, texture, and movement that cannot be replicated.

Features a four‑drawer tower flanked by two connected lift‑out‑tray boxes, creating a functional layout designed for jewelry, heirlooms, and personal treasures.
Every drawer is hand‑fitted.
Every tray lifts smoothly.
Every surface is shaped, sanded, and finished by hand.
The full piece measures 17½" long, 10½" tall, and 6½" deep

Nicely done! Beautiful grain. What did you finish it with?

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

I like how you kept the burl edges!
Crosses the line between "formal" and "organic" appearance.

The finish I used is Odie's
  Multi-Functional Solution: Odie's Universal Oil
Let me tell you. If you decide to try this, PLEASE use sparingly. When I say it only takes a dip of the fingertip at a time that's what it takes. And I lightly massaged it around with 0000 steel wool. Let it sit for better than an hour, than a rub down with a clean, soft, terry cloth.

love rustic live edge maple. might have to give oldies a shot ?

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Interesting piece.

I like Maple too. It can be hard or soft, and is seen in many differing types of grain variations. Usually all white, but soft maple can also be gray, brown, and red. I consider it the universal donor.
Those "hard wax oils" are deceiving with the expensive/tiny containers they come in, but they really do require a very tiny amount to do the work.
Did it fall of the bench sometime?

What would cause that question?

The physical damage that the build appears to be showing.
Meaning if you look at the the bottom drawer and the second above it both appear to have the edges damaged.

That is called "live edge woodwork". You can find this in all kinds of handmade pieces. There are some that don't have an eye for this type of detail, and I can appreciate that. but look it up, it may grow on you.
