This is the last acrylic pen Tony will be turning took 3 time's to get this far I envy you guys that can do it 🙏 only wood for Tony 😉 she will love it for train 🚂 more than ugly shit ass acrylic

I'm with you. I like wood so much better. I have had the acrylic chip out too far to turn it out and had to buy more brass tubes to finish the pen. I have turned epoxy resin but it has to be completely dry and cured before turning.

Practicing on acrylic might get you ready for turning the heart pine blanks I sent you.
Just be sure to soak them in CA and to keep soaking them as you turn down to fresh wood.

i know Gary i still have them I would have better luck with them as i almost had one turned but should have went with gut an done more application of glue

dont give up buddy, just takes practice. ya gotta go slow and easy using a negative rake carbide tool. did you use that ? and for doing the finish use micro mesh wet sanding and you'll have a mirror finish. hey i prefer wood myself but some of the acrylics are dazzling !

well you can be dazzled it takes me hours and more hours to make models this is what attacted me to pens you can knock one out in hour and there is nothing more sexy them wood
