One of the coolest things I carve. I place them in a wooden frame, backlit with LED light strips. The last one has a 3D set of wedding rings carved into the Corian, with their wedding date on the rings.

The way the coriander allows the light to show up is like a very old photo plate, very nice.

Actually Lithophanes were done a lot in the 1800’s using Porcelain. Lighting was usually with a candle, or sunlight through a window. The way it works, the dark area are thicker, letting less light to pass through. The light areas are very thin, so more light shows through. Old photos really look nice when done this way.
