Hickory Side Table

My Dad called me about 3 months ago. And in that conversation he stated they were looking for a side table put put next to my moms recliner. He gave me some ruff dimensions and requested that it be out of a hardwood. However, it needed to match the other table I made him. Humm, well that was a drop leaf and made of pine. The other wood in the house was creamy and browns. Well to me it was a no brainer. Hickory. Well built and then snuck into their house and dropped it off. Mom was surprised.

Beautiful! I love the colors of hickory. Good looking table.

I measured it twice, cut it twice, and it is still too short!

Very nice, I love hickory.

Thank you guys! i love Hickory too. the table has six coats of tung oil. when applying the second coat i sanded it with 220 then on the 3rd coat i applied it and used 320 then 400 then 600 and the last coat i didnt sand it after it was very smooth. However, i did apply my tung oil beeswax polish. which made the top look like glass. Now if you watch my video on youtube https://youtu.be/ad_h14NJae4 youll see the shine i got just from the 6 coats of tung oil and sanding up through the grits.
All i can say is that table really did turn out and my mother was just floored when she came home to find this sitting in her living room. oh they want me to make an entertainment center now to match. i chuckled when they told me that. The entertainment center is the only piece that is old and not really matching.
Well thank you again. Be safe, have fun and make lots of saw dust. A trees work is never done!
