Walnut and curly maple serving tray

Finished this serving tray about a month ago, walnut sides with curly maple tray on the bottom. Corners are mitered with maple keys, and the sides have a dado about a half inch from the bottom to hold the panel which floats and allows for the wood to move. Finished with danish oil and polished with some paste wax.

Very nice- I love the maple walnut combo.

Great combination, nice contrast in woods. Very nice piece. I like the splines, I made a couple of jigs just for doing spline work, one for picture frames and one for boxes, or in this case trays.

Beautiful work! I love how the grain “turns the corner.” Keyed miters are also, way cool!
