100 yr old house progress

I just built the heaviest door I have ever built and it’s the most solid door I’ve ever built.
Check out the shelf over the washer/ dryer. That’s the original mantel that was over the fireplace. The cabinet over water heater has a fresh coat of polyurethane . And the cabinet with the old doors has been stained with 2 coats of polyurethane . I am finally doing things in this house that will be seen. It’s fun.

Nice work. Do I see mitred rail and stiles on that door? I’m making doors for my house too. Just curious about the joinery there.

Hey Brian. Yeah I did miter the corners. Started with a screw in each mitered corner . Then squared the frame and screwed it down to saw horses to hold it square. Then I started laying everything on top of that frame and screwed everything down. Each thing was finally tied to each other with the second frame. Turned out to be 2 & 1/4 inches thick. But I couldn’t get the look I wanted any other way.
