A "One Wood" Keepsake Box

I haven’t built a box without combining at least a couple wood species together in a long time, hence the project name. This is made from solid hickory and a hickory veneered bottom panel.

This was actually a piece of wide plank hardwood flooring that I acquired years ago. The plank had so much character that I thought it would be perfect candidate for a keepsake box on it’s own.

It is finished in lacquer and lined in ruby red velvet.

That hickory looks great with your design; it really shows off the wood.
