A friend of my daughter’s asked me to build her a murphy bed for her 10 year old daughter. The build was easy, using the Create-a-Bed kit from wwbeds.com (thanks Chris). The painting, on the other hand, was a pain in the *, using water based “cabinet grade” paint in 100, using water based “cabinet grade” paint in 100*+ weather. I sprayed it, it was dry before it hit the bed! I rolled it, the stipple was terrible! The paint supplier replaced the water-based paint with oil-based, and it went on like a dream (also, the temperature fell to the high 80’s).
My wife liked the idea so much that I now get to build us a queen sized one for the guest room. I will post it upon completion.
p.s. Sorry about the iphone photos, it is all I have right now.
I measured it twice, cut it twice, and it is still too short!
I used one of the same kit too for double bed.
They make life easy.
Well done.

I’m working on a queen size now – a bit fancier this time.

a1jim, Take a look at the one I just posted. My next project is to build matching cabinets on either side of it.
