Hennessey Cognac Box

I made this box to house my fathers Christmas gift. I wanted to make it much more than handing him a bottle. The box is made from reclaimed dugglas fir that was planed down to a 1/2" and the slide lid was planed to 1/4". The back of the box has box joints and the bottom and top have rabbits. A dado grove three sides for the slide cover.
I burned the wood and distressed it. I also chipped out some of the box joints and a corner to try and make it look old. Then i looked up Hennessey’s logo online and printed out onto the slide lid. Then i used tung oil and spray laquar to finish it.

That’s a nice box, Jeff. Hennessey makes it even better :)

Thanks Martin. Yeah Hennessey is my fathers favorite. Hes 80 and its just nice to give an extra touch to something he loves dearly. His jaw dropped when he opened the gift. He also knew i made the box after looking at it. My mother stated that he is displaying it on the fireplace. Now thats worth it that it has touch him that way.
