As part of the remodeling, I’m beginning to make some of the furniture. We had one old ottoman. I decided to make two new ones and have them double as throw blanket storage and tv tables.
This is the result. Two ottomans (hassocks) are made of cherry, finished in waterlox satin. The top pops up and forward to double as a TV table. We have two large plastic trays. Great for the playoff’s and superbowl games. The video shows the construction from beginning to end including making of the cushions. No plans. I just sketch a bit, think a lot, then start cutting. I decided to use pocket hole screws for all joining as it’s cold for glue to dry quickly (still all glued though) and didn’t want to wait for clamping and drying to continue working on them. A fun build. I don’t like building two of things though. It’s like building something twice.
Right now the height seems about right. I might decide to cut off an inch at some point. I’ll have to wait and see. Oh, they have casters on the bottom for ease of movement.

Wonderful! Thanks for posting. You do good work. I really like the flip up design. Great little video too.
