Sometimes you wonder about the names chosen for a product

Hi all

Based on an email I got today from Harvey Tools.

They are telling me about a special they have of 4 of their new saw blades. This may be of interest to some of you. Overall sounds like a good deal. I'm just not sold that calling a saw blade a "DESTROYER" is such a sound marketing idea.

Mind you this was sent to me because I am on their mailing list. If you are interested, and it doesn't AUTOMATICALLY apply to you, from what I have seen they are the kind of company you could call in, and tell them what you heard, and I think they would get some info from you, and then extend the offer to you too.

For some really strange reason the webpage is designed to block you from copy and pasting the URL, so you could share it with others

They are made by Lietz, who make good stuff, and if you search online using "Harvey, Destroyer saw blades" they have a really informative page, that under NO circumstances do they want you to share with anyone. Kinda ANTI-marketing.

What I started the thread about isn't that. I think maybe calling a table saw blade, something you are using as a "specialty blade" in this example. IOW they are offering 4 different blades, not just the singular 1, COMBO blade, so I figure their point is very good saw cuts, clean cuts, almost perfect cuts. So is it poor marketing to use the word DESTROYER as the name to call them.

Whhhooo Boy I sure destroyed some wood today with them thar new blades I got from Harvey....

It's a given I am weird, but I think others might see this as well, what say yee.
i think a lot of companies want that mach image so they come up with names like, diablo (devil) or death stick (hammers). i have customers though that wont buy diablo because of religious reasons. personally i dont care what they call a product as long as it lives up to it's name.

Personally I get the best laughs from Harbor Freights brand names.

If anyone remember the Monty Python skit with "woody" and "tinny" works, HF has gone full woody.
After looking at it for a while I thought, hmmm gonna try me a DESTROYER, if nobody else buys in I'll write a review once I get them, and get some use on them. They are a pretty toothy rip blade, a really tooth crosscut blade, and combo, and what I really needed, and ended up being the most expensive of the 4 by double, a good Plywood/Melamine blade. To me it was $233.77 which covered tax and shipping.

I used to use Lietz blades, and they were very good blades, then the source I had went poof, and they were not available where I am?

I figured the webpage is essentially a bunch of pictures, so a right click of the part you want and pick same image as, and direct it to where you want it to go, is the best way to share info of theirs. This is the specs page.

Dadonator is an other funky name by Infinity tools. Your right maybe the destroyer is meant for demolition or a battle ship.

how about a drillnado drill press vac attachment ? piece of junk that went in the trash !

How  about the embigginer by Splinter. Ask him about it. I think he believes it make holes bigger. And don’t forget the Spud wrench or Infinity tools Hurricane circular saw blade  I’ll bet that thing spins.

That drillnado looks like a great idea and I can see exactly why it wouldn't work and what needs to be done to make it work.

The hurricane saw blades seem slow, doesn't the average hurricane spin around 1/30RPM?  That will get you a decent rim speed if you're buying a saw blade 600 mile  in diameter.
James I have a Dadonator set, best Dado blade I have ever used, including the Ridge set. Plus I got the space measure deal, with exact legend of which chippers, and wafers to add to get the distance, so it's also the easiest to use.

Now you got me all excited, Looking forward to my Destroyer blades. :-)

the drillnado clogged up easily when drilling large holes and the plastic shroud was crap.
