Friday Night Surprise

I had surgery nine weeks ago on my left foot and been non weight bearing on it and mm use a knee scooter to get around.  Friday night I was going from my scooter to my Lazyboy when I turned and popped my hip out..OUCH.  Wife called 911 and I got an ambulance ride to the hospital.  The ambulance had no shocks and I felt every bump.  Thankfully, the doctor popped it back in and I was home in four hours. The hip had been replaced 20+ years ago so the image shows the replacement parts.

For Father's Day my wife gave me an appropriate hat.

Ouch! That is some serious joint work.

Good to hear that you didn't need another replacement, too much down time is bad for the soul.

Gotta love the hat!
Good it was a quick fix.
I was fortunate to have an excellent group of EMTs and doctors.  They gave me one good stuff before they picked me up out of my chair which helped.  The doctor put me out for 10 minutes to put it back in and I felt nothing. Now, I need to be careful forever.
that hat is cool !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Love the hat!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Ouch!  My dad poped out his replacement hip many times.

Is it from Moog?  I always sought them when any ball/socket problems arose.
Have one artificial hip, did not realize the possible dislocation.   Give me a good excuse to not do certain things.
"No Dear the hip might unplug?"

Glad yours was taken care of so quickly,, ps good look with the foot.

Probably used Propofol for that 10 minute period. We used to call it "Milk of Amnesia" a play on Milk of Magnesia. It's the stuff Michael Jackson used to go to dreamville with, and unattended you go into both respiratory arrest, and a super low B/P, like unable to survive low. While they were pulling your leg down to get your hip back in, I bet you were yelling like a wildman. With the amnesia, you come out on the other side, and don't remember a thing.

Yeah, displaced hips are a Mother to get back in. You have to stretch out all of your legs muscle further than it generally goes, so that ball, gets way  below the socket, and letting go it slides back in place. Plus you are right, I've never seen a person looking comfy with one out. Shoulders are similar, but with them some peeps who have recurrent outages can pop their own shoulder back in. Never have I seen that with a hip.

Glad they got you rebuilt, love that hat. :-)

How is the knee coming along?
Ron they have actually changed the replacement hips so they mimic the real hip joint as well as they can. Initially the replacements wouldn't allow you to cross your legs, and a lot of similar actions would cause problems. Newer replacements allow leg crossing, and aren't so finicky. Huge improvement.
Glad you were able to get the joint back in working order.

Love that cap! Great gift.
