leather chaps?

Does anybody wear leather chaps for carving? Biker or western, just to save some wear and tear on jeans and maybe a little protection from tools of the trade and moving logs around? What are your thoughts?

Sounds like a good idea.

Absolutely, wearing leather chaps for carving, whether you're a biker or into western styles, can be a smart choice. Not only do they offer practical protection against tools and debris, but they also help extend the life of your jeans. Plus, the added layer of leather can provide some extra safety when handling logs and navigating your carving workspace. It's a functional and stylish solution that many in the carving community find beneficial.
I wear chainsaw chaps when running my sawmill.  Seems there's always a need to fire up a chainsaw for trimming something, especially on a max size log to ensure the blade guides can actually go past the wide point in the log.
