JACK that was just an awesome interview. Great words of wisdom and that statement is seriously true quote…“your machines will lay in wait for years just waiting for you to get in a hurry and get careless”…Unqote. I got careless and forgot to put on the middle bandsaw guard and as it was running I got my arm stuck in the blade and cut my arm in half. Yep the sewed it all back up and it works but with a loss of grip. So yes slow down and think twice about it before cutting.
Well Jack nice to get to know you better. This is an awesome community!

Thank you Jeff for the kind words. Once you have an experience like we have had with a saw, it will really get your attention.

Jack,

You’re either 150 years old or an incredibly fast learner! LOL Your projects look like they were made by someone with decades of experience. It’s nice to get to know you better.

I am sure you will master the Maloof joint. When you do I will learn from you :)
Great interview Jack.

Very interesting , the love of woodworking is in your blood. From what I see you do nice work. And yes my 4 inch joint planner was laying there waiting for me . I was making a hope chest for my wife . The guard was sticking that day , was in a hurry , so when the piece stopped my hand didn’t , Cut the tip of the ring finger on my right hand at about 30 degrees including the bone and chewed the heck out of the tip of my middle finger. A couple of stitches and I finished planning the pcs the next day .

Thank you L/W for your kind words. Every morning when I get up I feel about 150 years old until I get everything moving. Thank you Ianwater. I hope “the joint” happens someday soon because my scrap pile from my practice joints is steadily growing. Thank you Bruce. Only we that love it can understand how you could go to the shop just after breakfast and the next thing you know it’s 3 in the afternoon and we have forgotten to eat lunch. Be safe.

Jack

Excellent interview. It really does not matter when one finds the love of woodworking, it’s that one does. You are absolutely correct when you mentioned seeing a piece of woodworking and you know how It is put together. Thank you for taking the time to share your story and letting us know you better.

Thank you James for the kind words
