The rear edge of the seat frame has 4 loose tenons glued in place.  The protruding tenons dry fit into corresponding mortises in the rear stretcher to support the rear of the frame.   The side rails of the frame are screwed to the front stretcher, with a 1" diameter UHMW spacer to place the frame at the desired height.

With the exception of finish and proper cushions, the chair was complete!
