Restorations #1: Wooden tool box

I threw some Daddy Van’s on this box and it NEEDED it. It was a pain to even open the drawers and the top would get stuck. Afterward I can open and close the drawers/top with one finger. Not to mention the grain! I want to say it’s Bubinga but that might be wishful thinking — but it has all the earmarks of Bubinga (my favorite wood). I mean, I am floored by its beauty.
There is not one piece of engineered wood on this thing. Every piece is solid wood and even the rails on the inside are solid wood (albeit a softwood; looks like some pine). I waxed it inside and out (underside of the drawers too).
This definitely elevated my marking and measuring tools to a new home they are absolutely worthy of.

Never heard of Daddy Vans, but that is quite the beautiful little box. I'm digging all those antique tools in it, too. Bubinga is a nice wood, and I have some pieces around here (in a drawer), but this looks like "not old" bloodwood to me.

Oh? Then consider me a fan of Mahogany. I have never taken the time to learn about it, let alone how to identify it. It is lovely!

A lot of furniture is made from mahogany. There is a wide range of mahogany types. I've got a set of kitchen stools I made from a type of mahogany. The blog and project post is salvaged from another site. I just need to get it posted.
Oh, right, different types! That reminds me that my dad loves Santos Mahogany ever since we made a sign out of it together (the sign is in his home, proudly displayed). He has asked for another out of the same wood.
