Can also be used as a leather punch. I wouldn’t use it an awl though, because the long “shank” is prone to bending in the soft wooden handle. Short jabs in ice or being pushed through soft material ought to be fine.

I actually bought this to use on ice. More specifically, I bought this for my spouse to use on ice, because my stubby hammer keeps getting purposed for that job. Not that I mind, the stubby claw hammer is fine for the task, but surely an ice pick will do a better job — it’s in the name!

Of course, this will have to be given the full restoration before handing over for use because we actually consume the ice by putting it into drinks. Nobody wants a piece of vintage rusticle floating in their drink because someone used a nasty ice pick.

Got this for $5 and reminds me of Goodell Pratt, though I don’t know that there is any relation to the tool maker.

Bonus is that the handle has an octagonal cap to keep the thing from rolling away.
