Urban Ore #22: Spline cutting jig

Or at least I think it’s a spline cutting jig. Could be used for a lot of things. That’s why I bought it. I immediately recognized the value of being able to pass a tall board by a machine with a miter slot.

They didn’t have a price on it. I walked it up there and the tending clerk gave it to me for $5. I just about leapt out of my skin. I don’t know what one of these goes for (unbranded), but I am sure it’s more than $5

Bet it will clean up nice. I have a bunch of things with miter slots. Router table, bench grinder/sander belt/disc, bandsaw, etc.
Looks like a tenon cutting jig to me. Nice find!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Yeah, just a stripped down table saw tenon jig, but I'd love to have that for just that simplicity. Perfect 90 platform for end drilling on a drill press, eliminating the need to tilt the table and loose the setup. Just unscrew the bar.
A chunk of steel or aluminum angle would cost 4x that at least.

Given your location, it's almost like that place is living 40 years in the past with the prices!
Interesting observation about the San Francisco Bay Area from afar: it’s stuck in the past in so many ways, but has thrown itself into what it thinks the future is well beyond most other cities. Lots of old, cool craft stuff can still be found, and then there’s the uber-progressive everything else. It’s a walking contradiction in so many ways.
