5 x Cigar Boxes Pt 1

I had quite a lot of off cuts from my Inglass pallet work accumulating

So I decided i would do a "quick" Cigar box build using them
As this project started in September 2024 how wrong I was.

The plan
Inglass Cigar Boxes

The small pieces were used.

Process

1.       All pieces Jointed and thicknessed on the jointer
2.       All pieces cut to width with the table saw
3.       All pieces thicknessed with the thicknesser
4.       Five sets of two Selected pieces edge glued for the lid and base
5.       Individual pieces ripped in half for the sides front and back
6.       The five lid and base pieces ripped in half making five sets
7.       Five bases cut to length
8.       Sides and backs cut to length and height and glued to the bases. Note the fronts and backs will be 1.5 times less the thickness lids

Construction

1.       I had intended to 45m Deg mitre  joint the boxes but due to their small size I reverted to simple butt Joints.

Busily working away I soon realized its wasn't to be anywhere quick at all
Ripping small pieces and edge butt joining them together was quite a task.

I eventually ripped them and finished them to size.

However even with my best foot forward work was interrupted with a couple of trips to Sydney for Christmas and new year the again in April May. Not forgetting the family Toy boxes My saw horses and heaps of other" Tasks.
That will do for Pt 1 and I will coordinat the  progress for the Pt 2 presentation.

Making large trees from small trees is always a bit of alchemy Rob, nice to see you are picking up where you left off!
We all have these "quick" projects in the pipeline, of course that pipeline is like an old cities sewer system and no one really knows how the flow works.
Life sometimes gets in the way of what we enjoy Rob 🥴
But as always a day in the shed working with wood always makes it worthwhile
