Sixteen drawers, just under 4’ wide. Has a 19-teens feel to it, maybe from a retail store of some kind. Definitely a commercial item.
The drawers all ‘drop-front,’ very unique. I said no, that I didn’t need another project. Fast forward about a week, and it was in front of me again. Because I had been thinking about the piece since saying no, decided to say yes. Recovering beauty meant stripping, my un-favoritest activity.
Disassembly wasn’t exactly a snap. Had to remove two screws per drawer that enabled the drop-front feature. Tiny, slotted screws. Several are, for some reason, bent (!?). Worked up a spare screwdriver to fit perfect into the small slots and pulled all the fronts.
Bail pulls removed by pulling nails at each corner … 64 little nails. Used a nippers to pull them, but had to use a nail set from the backside to force them proud for pulling. With all that done, stripper was applied to each drawer front and when scraped the cabinet had it’s made the turn towards recovery.
One end needed strip action too. Here’s first pass.

I have a problem turning away free wood too. You scored on that one. That cabinet can be put anywhere the shop in the house or a business.nice stuff there
oh yeah with a nice granite or marble top that would go right in the house. hell people pay big money for that. hey smitty you could make some good money selling that ? at least here in LA LA Land 🤣

I think making legs / a base makes a lot of sense, styled after an original (photo) example. Then a granite top, like Pottz says. Could be interesting!
