2022 Wooden Quilt

I started this years large carving for shows, a wooden quilt. I first had to build a wooden ladder to display the quilt on but it had to be able to fold up for the hauling purposes to and from. 
   I had to glue up 4/4 boards for get the 8/4 that was needed to make the quilt. Planning is everything at this stage of the piece. I wanted to make it look like it hung around the ladder rails so had to groove the rails into the slab. By cutting the profile I eliminated #20 of wood. I used a number of grinders and sanders to sculpt this quilt. After a ton of sanding I am ready to add the quilt pattern.
