Pledge Allegiance Flag

This carving project was a long road. I started this in January and have worked on it off and on since. I made this using 8/4 basswood glued together to make a 3’x5’ panel. The finial is two pieces which allows the holly wood rope to appear to wrap under the ball. There was a lot of grinding, sanding, and carving on this piece. If you look close you can see the stitching. The white areas are bleached so the grain would show thru to some extent. The stars and lettering are all hand carved using a knife.

Incredible work!
At first I thought only the pole was made of wood. You had to see my expression when I actually read the description.

The flag is beautiful!
