Charcuterie Board with Matching Cutting Board

My brother-in-law in Missouri asked if I could make this set-up for his daughter in Texas. She needed a big one, so I went for it and decided to make a cutting board with juice grooves so the Char. Board would be used for serving only. The Char. Board is 17 1/2 X 31 1/2 inches in size, the cutting board is 15 1/2 X 11 1/2 inches. Woods used are Purple Heart, Claro Walnut, reg. Maple, Wavy Maple, and a really heavy marked Bird's Eye Maple.  Char. Board has five coats of Wipe on Poly, one per day with light sanding or buffing between each and finished off with a good waxing. Hand holds were hogged out with a Forstner Bit, smoothed with my osc. spindle sander and then routed to round everything off. Cutting Board is the same wood, then soaked/sealed in a bees wax and mineral oil combo that I made. Rubber bumper feet were installed on the Char. Board to make picking it up easier. The juice groove on the cutting board was put in with a jig that I made.

This is my first project on this site, if I am too windy, let me know and I will shorten everything the next time.  Thanks Mike

Great looking set!  Nice to have each with a dedicated function.
Sharp looking boards, Mel!

May you have the day you deserve!

Dave, thanks. After you mentioned this site on LJs, I decided to give it a try. So far, I like it, Similar to the other one before the change. Have a good evening.  Mike
They are beautiful — I’m imagine the pride I would have, putting them on a serving table.

And I love the story/description!!

beautiful boards my friend so glad to see you here along with many others. i think we'll see more to come.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

GLAD to see you here. Too much censorship and (inside political), stuff going on with the new LJs for me. I also am not liking the new format, to commercial and not much fun anymore. I have noticed many LJers here and yes, I think we will see many more to come. You have a good day.   Mike
Great looking boards, Mel!!!!!!!!!

The boards look great and having the 2 sizes is a plus. No worries about the write ups, we like to read about the details. Well Done
