Trivets (Adjustable)

Adjustable Trivets, made from Red Oak, Cherry and Mahogany, finished with 3 coats of Butcher Block Oil. Started out with 1/2" x 3/4" x 6" parellagram, total of 12 pieces.

The second and third photos show the jig I made to use on the table saw. I made one cut, flipped the jig around and continued cutting my pieces, which are cut at 60* and no measuring. The forth photo is the jig I used for glue up for the proper angle.

The glue up portion took a little while, waiting for the glue to set up. But I worked on some organization in the shop. Overall a fun little project for additional Christmas gifts.

I'll need more pictures to figure this out!!  Like the look - very neat to close for storage.
Barb, Thank You, and they will stand up also. Let me work on the photos, those are the only ones I had on the PC.

Hope this helps Barb.

They are a little difficult to put together, need to be lined up.

Those are really cool, Eric! It’s nice that they collapse down for storage.
Thanks Ron, they did take a little while to glue up.

Petey, Thanks. Some of the folks I gave them to, thought they were puzzles.

Main Street to the Mountains

Still a puzzle to me 🤣🤣🤣
It was puzzling for me at first too. I see if I can put some sketches together and post.

Very intriguing set Eric. I've kinda got the concept, somewhat :-)

Duck, thanks. As I mentioned above, it took me a bit to wrap my head around it.

Main Street to the Mountains

Maybe this will help with a better understanding of the build.

Thanks!  I'm thinking I will just need to jump in and try this next time I can get in the shop.  Appreciate the extra pictures and diagrams.
Barb, note that a gluing jig really helps out keeping everything in line.

BB1, I was inspired by Lazyman to make this puzzle a while back on LJ's. I based mine of the puzzle theme rather than a kitchen utensil.

Don't know whether you can operate SketchUp (free version available on the WEB) loaded from link below, or just printing out PDFs, all the files I used are available at,
   this cloud storage.
There should be a movie of the SketchUp animation.   I based my design on laminating 4 layerrs of 6mm MDF cut on the laser, however, the PDF's should give cutting templates to minimise glueing.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Just realised I made a video on this (puzzle theme).

Though I did it on the laser, Lofty has just proved it's just as "easy" our of solids.

The 2 jigs I threw together helped out, 1 to cut the pieces to length and the other to glue up 2 of the pieces with the proper angle.
