Candy Box

A little scrap wood candy box I made to work on miters and hiding seams…and because I like root beer barrels in the shop.

Scrap walnut and maple. The inlay is a strip I picked up from Woodcraft for a different project, but I like how it looks on this one too.

Brass pins for hinges. Spray lacquer for a finish.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Love the combination.  Haven't had root beer barrel in so long!  Good storage place to keep the candy safe (and easy access).
Nicely done, great job with the band at the bottom, Walnut always looks good.

Main Street to the Mountains

I lot of work on that box.

They were my dad’s favorite. To be honest I never really liked them. Years after he died, I had one somewhere and for some reason it was a totally different experience!

Memories are powerful.
Really like the use of straight grained walnut with the boxes straight edges, gives it a strong "presence".
That lid is trick!
Thanks! It took a bit of fiddling with the lid to get it just right…and it sticks a bit in the winter, but that’s ok.
