coffee and end table set

Project Information
this is a matching coffee and end table that i made about 25 years ago,it has gone through a few renovations over the years to get where i liked the end result. the bases are cherry, the top is ipe with maple plugs and inlay on the top and the edges. sap wood is left in on purpose as i like the contrast,a furniture maker would never do this. i always buy grade 2 for that reason, i dont like perfection in wood. the finish is my go to maloof poly oil blend. comments good or corrective are always welcome.

Pottz

I really like the design.

That is really well done!

Petey

thanks petey. it started out with a live edge slab of mrytlewood but the wife decided it was way to rustic for the living room. so it became what you now see. id have to agree with her. lol.

Yep,  another fine piece.  Starting to see your style/personality in your builds.
I can look at a piece of furniture and say,  yep,  pottz built that, see the two toned plugs and the inlay.....

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

Beautiful work, Lar!

thanks boys.
i think thats the goal of most woodworkers, especially professionals is too achieve a personal style all your own. maloof and nakashima are two that have inspired me.

Nice work Pottz! And it definitely looks like something oaks had in their house in the 90s…that’s a compliment' believe it or not!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

A great looking set Pottz. I like Cherry for living room furniture, always a nice warm color. And the beauty just get better over time.

Pottz,

Lovely tables.  Looked at these a few years ago on LJ.  The sapwood gives character to the end product.

That is a cool table! 25 years it still looks great! In 75 more years it will be an antique.
