Project Information
plantation shutters made using the rockler system of jigs and software.i used the recommended bass wood and designed using their online software which is extremely easy to use, just enter your dimensions and it gives you a set of drawings and a cut list and all the parts you need.they call for dowels but i used the festool domino.i went with 2-1/2'" louvers and hidden control arms.i highly recommend this system for its ease of use.i pre painted all the parts prior to assembly.wife seems happy, and thats not easy!

Excellent work, pottz! Those look great.

Hanging those properly so they line up and are properly spaced within the window frame must be a bit of a challenge.
Wow Pottz, where did you hide these. They look great. I need three sets for the rest of the windows in the house. And they are expensive for the size I need.

thats the beauty of the rockler system with their online calculator. you just enter your measurements and it figures everything out for you.

I need to look into that Rockler system.

This is one of those projects where non-woodworkers look at it as a single piece (it's a shutter) and totally miss how much work is one of them. Nice job!
eric it's a foolproof system.

Those look pretty solid,  how thick is the shutter material,  looks like about 1/2"

Nice Shutters.

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

3/8" rockler sells the bass wood pre milled but i got the special router bit and made my own.much cheaper.

Half of what we read or hear about finishing is right. We just don’t know which half! — Bob Flexner

Those are sharp looking, definitely a lot of smaller parts to work with. Great job.   Mike
